Virtual Meeting Space Design
UX/UI & GRAPHIC DESIGN (2019-2023)
Role: Design Manager, Designer
Sococo is a virtual office platform that enables distributed teams to work together side-by-side, no matter where they're located. As the Design Manager and a contributing Designer, I led the design and delivery of over 200 virtual office maps—ranging from standardized layouts to fully custom environments for high-profile clients.
Project Scope & Deliverables
I directed and participated in the end-to-end design of interactive virtual spaces, including:
-
Public Map Library – Designed a wide range of ready-to-use virtual office layouts accessible to all Sococo users.
-
Custom Branded Maps – Developed tailored environments for enterprise clients, often reflecting their real-world office layouts and branding.
-
Functional Map Assets – Created room layouts and spatial arrangements that supported real-time collaboration: offices, meeting rooms, lounges, co-working spaces, and more.
Design Process & Tools
Each map design followed a detailed waterfall process:
-
Research & Brainstorming – Defined requirements based on user behavior, space utility, and client feedback.
-
Collaborative Design Sessions – Held regular design meetings to develop and refine concepts.
-
Visual Design – Created initial and final artwork, balancing aesthetics with usability.
-
Production Integration – Translated final art into functional assets coded for use in the Sococo application.
-
QA & Release – Ensured quality standards before handoff to engineering for deployment.
Design tools included Adobe Illustrator for map illustration, internal prototyping tools, and proprietary coding frameworks to embed maps into the Sococo platform.
Key Achievements
-
Scale & Efficiency: Led the successful production of over 200 maps with design cycles ranging from 1 to 4 weeks, depending on complexity.
-
High-Impact Customization: Delivered fully branded, bespoke environments that met the unique needs of enterprise clients.
-
Integrated Team Workflow: Managed cross-functional collaboration between design, QA, and engineering for seamless implementation and release.
This project highlights my ability to lead design at scale while maintaining creative quality, technical accuracy, and user-centered thinking. The final map designs served as the visual and functional core of a virtual workplace used daily by thousands of remote team members.
