My name is Hilary York

I am a PMP certified project manager and digital leader with 15+ years of experience driving complex projects from strategy through delivery across EdTech, enterprise software, and government technology.

My background sits at the intersection of project management and design, which means I understand both how to deliver and what good looks like. I specialize in cross-functional team leadership, structured execution, and keeping projects on time and on scope. My design background means I speak fluently across product, engineering, and stakeholder conversations, bridging the gap between creative vision and technical delivery.

My project management practice spans agile, waterfall, and hybrid methodologies across fully remote and distributed teams. When design work is called for, my process includes research, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, stakeholder feedback, and iteration through final delivery.

  • Led digital transformation initiatives for a Tech start-up, focusing on user-centered, accessible, and scalable design solutions, including scalable design systems, streamlined workflows, and tool integrations. 

  • Developed and implemented strategic plans ensuring full WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility compliance, improving usability for users with disabilities and aligning with legal and equity standards.

  • Web Designer & Developer for one of the largest School Districts in Colorado.

  • Working on a remote team to design and develope over 100 school websites, a District website and Intranet for TeamJeffco.

  • Designing WCAG Accessible websites for schools.

  • Utilizing FinalSite's Composer CMS to design websites.

  • Communicating with the district team, other designers, copywriters and school teams using project management tools, Microsoft Outlook, Google sheets and more.

  • Lead User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) designer for front end projects for 3 products.

  • Managed projects for all client design, front-end development, & training.

  • Communicated with clients throughout projects starting with introductions and onboarding, regular updates, design meetings and presentations to completion of each project. 

  • Conducted 50 plus Webmaster Trainings & 508 Accessibility Webinars for groups of 3 to 50 users. 

  • Product Designer for multiple products including wireframes, mock-ups and storyboards, and prototypes. 

  • Developed and implemented designs on websites & apps using a WYSIWYG content editor and CSS.

  • Designed, built and updated content on school websites as well as small business Mobile Apps.

*School Loop was acquired by Think 3 in December 2018.   My contract ended in April 2019 at which time I remained on as a Consultant on the Professional Services Team.  Initially my new job description was identical, albeit with a different title, but ultimately I became responsible for design and project management on two additional products.

School Loop

January 2018 - April 2019

  • Managed a remote, distributed team of developers, designers and content editors for one of the leading providers of School Websites. 

  • Managed projects end-to-end with clients from initial design research, to wireframe and high-fidelity  mock-ups, through development and full implementation and quality assurance QA of the design.

  • Helped design a WCAG compliant CMS and over 25 WCAG compliant website templates.

  • Lead UX/UI Designer for Products Development of School Loop CMS 2, including design of WYSIWYG editor, user experience and user interface for modules and backend user interface for new CMS.

  • Designed and implemented an advanced WCAG compliant color system that allows for attractive color palettes and color combinations, but prevents users from creating color contrast errors.

  • Completed 18 Beta Design projects during the initial phases of the School Loop CMS 2 redesign.

  • Designed and developed over 50 custom website designs using the School Loop CMS, components, CSS and HTML.

  • Ensured over 100 sites were WCAG (508) compliant both for their content and color.
