Fast'N'Easy Templates
WEBSITE DESIGN (2017-2018)

Role: Web Designer, Director of Web Design & Development

School Loop’s second-generation content management system (SLS2) was designed to offer public schools and districts far more flexibility than previous tools allowed. As the Web Designer for this project, I led the design and development of easy-to-use, visually appealing website templates tailored to non-technical users—primarily teachers and administrative staff managing school websites.

Project Scope & Deliverables

Our work focused on designing and delivering templates that balanced visual flexibility with ease of use:

  • 18 Custom Beta Sites – Developed bespoke designs for both schools and districts to test the new CMS framework.

  • 7 Fast’N’Easy Templates – Created a suite of free, responsive templates built from modular components to support quick deployment and user customization.

  • Component-Based Design System – Developed reusable groupings of styled modules that could be easily configured to meet a wide range of layout and content needs.

Design Process & Tools

Our process was structured to deliver both creativity and scalability:

  1. Discovery & Planning – Conducted stakeholder meetings to understand user needs and limitations.

  2. UX/UI Design – Created wireframes and high-fidelity mockups in Adobe XD for each site and template.

  3. Component Development – Built out styled, flexible components that could be mixed and matched across templates.

  4. Responsive Design Implementation – Ensured all templates were fully mobile-friendly, stacking content in a logical top-to-bottom flow for smaller screens.

Templates were designed to look great out-of-the-box or be further customized based on customer needs, all with minimal technical knowledge required.

Key Achievements

  • User-Centered Design: Delivered templates specifically geared toward educators and school staff with limited web design experience.

  • Modular & Scalable: Developed a flexible component system that accelerated template development and allowed for easy customization.

  • Mobile-Ready: Ensured all templates were fully responsive, performing well across a range of devices.

This project demonstrates my ability to design scalable, user-friendly digital products within real-world constraints—balancing aesthetics, usability, and technical feasibility. While School Loop, Inc. ceased operations in 2021, these templates provided schools with accessible, attractive web solutions during their years in use.
