Role: Graphic & Digital Designer

 

The mission of the Monterey County Child Care Planning Council is to create a comprehensive, integrated child care delivery system that offers safe, high quality, culturally sensitive, affordable child care to Monterey County families who need it; a system that allows parental choice and is supported by strong partnerships with public and private resources.

For this project, I assisted MCCCPC in design in their Strategic Plan document.  Which is published on the the MCCCPC Website.

Project Scope & Deliverables

Create a comprehensive, visually engaging catalogue that informs and persuades.  

• Adhere to brand guidelines (typography, color palette, logos) and extrapolate as necessary

• Finding and utilizing appropriate stock imagery

• Setting up layouts and designs that fit the provided content

• Ensure readability (WCAG 2.1 standards for online use)

Design Process & Tools

 

Per the client’s request, Canva was the primary design tool for this project, allowing for easy content edits on their end while maintaining high-quality, professional layouts. Additionally, I used Adobe Illustrator to create custom vector assets and enhance the visual design.

​

Working within Canva's framework required strategic design decisions to balance creative flexibility with client usability. I developed template-based designs that maintained consistency across all materials while ensuring easy text updates for last-minute schedule or speaker changes.

• Consistent Branding: Ensured a unified look and feel across all touch points, aligning with the department family and equity-focused mission.

• Print-Ready & Digital Optimization: Designed materials that translated seamlessly between print and digital formats.

• Client Collaboration: Built editable yet visually compelling designs, empowering the client to make real-time text edits without compromising design integrity.

This project showcased my ability to blend flexibility with professional design standards, leveraging both client-friendly tools and advanced design software to create impactful event materials.
